Selah on the Dance floor

Selah is NOT a wallflower! We went to Brad's cousin's wedding last weekend and as soon as the music started Selah was on the dance floor.
She danced with everyone at the wedding!
The groom Tyler....
Grandma Cathy....
Grandpa Rex.... Brad and I danced with her too but the pictures didn't turn out. She also danced with the bride, and anyone else who was on the floor.
Luke took on the job of handing out cake to everyone, he took this job pretty seriously for about the first three tables and then sat down to have a piece himself.

Luke's day out with Thomas

Luke was excited this weekend to go to a Day out with Thomas. This time he was not as impressed with all of the little kid stuff (although Selah was!) but really excited to actually ride the train. He had no interest in waiting in the long line for his picture with Thomas so ignore the actual family being photographed! My camera battery died and I didn't bring an extra so Daddy saved the day and took pictures with his phone. The boys had their head out the window the whole ride watching everything go by.
Luke with his ticket, maybe next time we will take a real train ride buddy, I think your ready!

Jack's first flag football game

Yesterday was Jack's first game, I think he asked me five times in the afternoon if it was time to go yet he was so excited. In the huddle discussing plays.
He got to be quarterback for his first game! It was fun to watch him especially with his mouth guard in, he would hold it in his teeth out the side of his mouth in between plays.
I can't remember if this pass ended up as a touchdown or not, this little boy (I need to learn his team mate's names!) did catch a few to run touchdowns.
Another pass mid air! Jack had a fun time his first game and did a great job.

Selah keeps things interesting!

For science today we made these spiral paper snakes that "wiggle" when the hot air rises under them. Jack gets it, Luke just likes to see it move and here is Selah's experience while they were coloring their snakes.
Selah - I am going to color my snake like a rainbow! What colors do I need Jack?
Jack - Just whatever your favorite colors are Se.
Selah - I am going to name my snake Wiggles, no Ashley, no, no, I am going to name my snake Sparkles!
no answer from the boys
Selah - Jack what are you going to name your snake?
Jack - I wasn't going to name it Selah
Selah - How about Wiggles?
Jack - Okay Se Wiggles, my snake's name is Wiggles
Selah - Can Sparkles and Wiggles be friends?
Jack - Sure Selah Sparkles and Wiggles can be friends.
Luke is still coloring in silence.
Then we hung them up in their rooms.
Selah - Over here Mom so I can look over from my bed and see it!
Then after going to check the boys' out and approving the spots they chose...
Selah - Luke what are you going to name your snake? Luke? Luke? (he is already downstairs so now she is yelling) Luke, what are you going to name your snake?
Luke - (yelling up to her) Thomas!
It seemed a lot like the way Brad and I are naming this baby!

Letter boxing

Yesterday for a field trip we met Miss Laura and her kids to go letter boxing. It's like a scavenger hunt for a box (or jar) someone has hidden somewhere and left clues for. We had clues for two different boxes at Brown's woods so we set out with all of the kids on a hike into the forest. Laura brought a sheet with animal tracks to identify. Jack found lots of raccoon and maybe a mink?
There were lots of streams to explore and get muddy in.
And to completely fall into, they were all such a mess by the end of the day, especially Boaz but he could not have been happier about it.
Jack with the jar that we did find, it has a pad and a stamper in it. You stamp in their notepad and use their stamp for your notepad so you can keep track of all of the letterboxes you find. We had clues for two but only found one yesterday.
This was the fallen tree the clue was hidden in.
The search team. Thanks Pollak kids, we had a great time and I think my bathtub will recover eventually.

What we have been loving about the new house

This first week of school has been busy but we have been able to get done by noon and get outside. I realized doing their albums that I didn't have a picture of the kids in front of the house. The hydrangea that is left after Brad hacked half of it down is blooming and it is really pretty, it still needs more trimming once it's done. We also have a ridiculous amount of hostas along the front that are in full bloom right now too. Would you believe Brad has already done a ton of trimming here?
Along with all of the blooms we have tons of bees, the kids have started catching them using Brad's old pop bottles which the bees happily fly into unknowing that they will soon be trapped!
Jack showed Luke how to make a bee house with multiple bottles, I love how in this picture Luke is concerned with the bees but Selah is concerned about smiling for the camera.
Luke and his bee house.
They love the setum too (the bees I mean).
Can you see how many are in this picture? It's like shooting fish in a barrel!
This is our science class today.
Also this is what I have been lucky enough to wake up to in the morning the last week. The valley outside of our window is filled with mist on most mornings during the sunrise. The other day it was so pretty I had to take a picture.
It's hard to start off the day bad when this is what your looking out at!
