The last day of the trip

On the last day before we left we just hung out, we did some hiking and went to the beach despite the chilly temperatures. They love having their name written in the sand.

Brad actually started covering Selah with sand to get her to stay still, she was jumping around all over the towels and getting sand everywhere. After he started she loved it and wanted to cover her whole body!

Jackson did this all afternoon with a short break to build a waterway in the sand.

As long as they were moving they stayed warm!

We went to Torrey Pines state park for some hiking and it was so pretty! How often do you get to hike with a view of the ocean?

Plus the kids stayed right near us after the guide told them to let Mom and Dad go first on the trails to be sure there were no snakes sunning themselves on the path.

Day 3 - Seaworld!

Seaworld was a very big day, dophin and Shamo shows and looking at a ton of sealife.

Selah was not scared to touch anything they would let her touch.

Neither was Jack!

We did get the kids stuffed animals here, Jack got a killer whale he named Willie, Luke got a penguin he named Jumps in the water blankie, and Selah got a polar bear she name Icy.

They had a very cool polar bear den the kids could pretend to be cubs in.

Day 2 Continued

After Legoland we were driving back to the hotel and Brad was looking for a scenic way back near the ocean. Selah was asleep and the they were all exhausted from the day. We saw this beach and thought it would be fun to get out and show the them the ocean. First everyone took off their shoes and walked in the sand, then okay we got our feet wet, before we knew it everyone was in the water completely! I had to document these pictures to tell the story. This is Miss Selah after falling down from a wave, the tears didn't last long after I took off her shirt and let her run in the water just in her jeans.

This was when we knew it was time to go!

But wait, she had a little more steam in her!

Luke loved the ocean but not his pants getting wet.

Jack just loved it all.

After our adventure we had to totally undress Luke and Selah in the car and carry them naked with my and Brad's sweatshirts covering them up to the hotel room! These clothes sat in the hotel full of sand and saltwater for four days before I could wash them at home, and after a few cycles they actually came clean! Clearly this wasn't a thought out plan, but it ended up being a really fun part of the trip.

San Diego Day 2

I had never even heard of Legoland but it was suppose to be a big deal in San Diego so we went to check it out, and ended up spending all day there.

A really cool part of the park was mini land where they have a bunch of American cities built completely with legos! All of the major cities, the kids loved seeing all of the people, buildings, and moving boats and cars.

They had a giant play structure for the kids just to run, climb, and slide and it was one of their favorite parts. I love this picture, they do love you Selah, they won't leave you behind!

In storybook land we went by boat through a quite a few fairy tales (all done in legos) and they loved the three little pigs, Selah loved sleeping beauty best of course.

They also got to be knights on one of the rides and joust.

There was an area to build lego cars and race them. Luke chose just a pair of wheels to race and kept winning over and over again. He didn't even hear the big kids saying to him, "of course it wins, it's just wheels!" He was to excited about each victory to notice anything else.

San Diego Day 1

I have so many (almost 300!) pictures from our trip to San Diego that I am going to post them in days and not overwhelm myself with which to use. Really our first thing to do was a San Diego Padres game. It was a very cool stadium, watching baseball outside is definitely the best except that Brad got fried that day. It was only in the low 70's the whole time we were there so didn't think a whole lot about sunscreen until Brad got so burnt. Jack was especially excited about this day and Luke and Selah were happy that we were sitting in the "all you can eat" seats. Hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, pop, Popsicles, and drumsticks, not the healthiest lunch but it kept them busy and I guess we were on vacation right? Jack at our seats, he actually wanted the Cincinnati Reds to win and cheered for them while wearing his new San Diego cap. I don't think the guys ahead of us were too happy about that but Jack really didn't care. San Diego won.

Luke did not want a cap, he already had the Thomas one Miss Monica got for him at a garage sale and did not want a new one! He did want the blue bat though which he has already used in the backyard.

Selah loves her snacks! Going to get snacks and the baby sitting behind us kept her very busy.

Down by the bay they have a fun area with a carousel the kids rode, it really went around fast!

This was actually rehersal, they didn't allow videotaping at the recital.

Selah's Dance Recital

Selah was so excited to dress up in her dance costume last weekend for her recital. All of the grandparents were in town to watch her too! The boys did not cooperate for pictures AT ALL, but more than made up for it by sitting really well through the entire 2 hour recital!

After the recital she couldn't believe we had flowers just for her!

She did so good during her Red Robin dance and even did the "tricky part" that she was telling us about earlier. These pictures are actually from rehearsal because we were not allowed to use a flash during the recital.
