San Diego Day 2

I had never even heard of Legoland but it was suppose to be a big deal in San Diego so we went to check it out, and ended up spending all day there.
A really cool part of the park was mini land where they have a bunch of American cities built completely with legos! All of the major cities, the kids loved seeing all of the people, buildings, and moving boats and cars.
They had a giant play structure for the kids just to run, climb, and slide and it was one of their favorite parts. I love this picture, they do love you Selah, they won't leave you behind!
In storybook land we went by boat through a quite a few fairy tales (all done in legos) and they loved the three little pigs, Selah loved sleeping beauty best of course.
Guess who else was at LegoLand?
They also got to be knights on one of the rides and joust.
There was an area to build lego cars and race them. Luke chose just a pair of wheels to race and kept winning over and over again. He didn't even hear the big kids saying to him, "of course it wins, it's just wheels!" He was to excited about each victory to notice anything else.
The car that Jack built, very nice!

San Diego Day 1

I have so many (almost 300!) pictures from our trip to San Diego that I am going to post them in days and not overwhelm myself with which to use. Really our first thing to do was a San Diego Padres game. It was a very cool stadium, watching baseball outside is definitely the best except that Brad got fried that day. It was only in the low 70's the whole time we were there so didn't think a whole lot about sunscreen until Brad got so burnt. Jack was especially excited about this day and Luke and Selah were happy that we were sitting in the "all you can eat" seats. Hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, pop, Popsicles, and drumsticks, not the healthiest lunch but it kept them busy and I guess we were on vacation right? Jack at our seats, he actually wanted the Cincinnati Reds to win and cheered for them while wearing his new San Diego cap. I don't think the guys ahead of us were too happy about that but Jack really didn't care. San Diego won.
Pretty cool stadium right in downtown San Diego.
Luke did not want a cap, he already had the Thomas one Miss Monica got for him at a garage sale and did not want a new one! He did want the blue bat though which he has already used in the backyard.
Selah loves her snacks! Going to get snacks and the baby sitting behind us kept her very busy.
Down by the bay they have a fun area with a carousel the kids rode, it really went around fast!
All three looking at me AND smiling! It was very pretty by the water.
Brad caught us as we zoomed by him on the carousel.

Selah's Dance Recital

Selah was so excited to dress up in her dance costume last weekend for her recital. All of the grandparents were in town to watch her too! The boys did not cooperate for pictures AT ALL, but more than made up for it by sitting really well through the entire 2 hour recital!
After the recital she couldn't believe we had flowers just for her!
She did so good during her Red Robin dance and even did the "tricky part" that she was telling us about earlier. These pictures are actually from rehearsal because we were not allowed to use a flash during the recital.
Once Brad uploads the video for me I will post that too.

Jackson's Soccer

We had a big weekend again this weekend, both sets of Grandparents were in town to see Jack's soccer game and Selah's dance recital. It was a COLD day to watch soccer but as we froze on the sidelines Jack was not chilly at all, he ran almost the whole hour! This was a goal attempt, this one got blocked. He did make one but I missed it, I was to busy cheering I think.
Jack is number seven, he liked that number because that is how old he is.
I was a little scared this kick was going to hit me or one of my other two kids who were hiding under blankets too cold to peek out.
I love his friend Austin's face in this picture, he is the other one in red.
Great job Jack, you worked hard the whole time and it was a great game!

Fishing at the pond

We did some fishing at the pond yesterday afternoon. Luke is a really good caster! He kept calling his bobber a beeper. No fish for him but he was not deterred!
This is the life.
Jack caught a fish! He still won't take the fish off the hook yet but he does put the worm on by himself this year.
Buddies fishing!
Selah caught a fish a few seconds after her first cast, really she barely had it in the water and a fish was on the line lucky girl!

What the kids have been up to.

In between our travels back and forth to Des Moines in the last few weeks this is what the kids have been doing. Luke has been engineering track after track all over the basement now that I don't make him pick it up every day for showings. He has come up with some pretty sweet bridges, tunnels and sheds using legos.
A little preview of our red robin dance coming up in a few weeks. Selah had her pictures last weekend and I took some myself. Can you handle how cute the hairpiece is? It was her first time wearing real makeup and I found out the poor girl has no upper lip just like her Mommy!
She told me she didn't smile during pictures, she was too shy! I can't wait to see what those look like.
For Cub Scouts last night Jack's troup went to the local rock climbing wall. He loved it, a little cautious at first but Brad said soon he got the hang of it and made it to the top. They were there a few hours climbing!

Hike at White Water State Park

On Easter we went to White Water State Park for the afternoon. Such a great way to spend Easter, it was a beautiful day!
See the green? It IS spring! We even saw a couple of flowers.

Easter Books and Egg Hunt

It has been so long since I've posted! We have been busy and I have been tired but, these are a few of the books and things we are doing this Easter. I feel like we have been so busy that it is nice today to just hang out, clean and do a few of these things. I am sad to miss Easter with family though! The Prince and the Poison Cup by R.C Sproul, this book is awesome, another one I really can't get through without crying. It is about a Prince who has to drink a poison cup and die to save the people of his father's kingdom. Every time I get choked up as he starts to drink the cup, and Jack always says to me "Mommy, you know what is going to happen, he comes back to life!" and I tell him "I know buddy but I'm just so grateful!"
Our Resurrection Eggs that I made at MOPS one year, Luke and Selah are really into these this year and Jack and I take turns reading the story.
This book is great too, Peter's First Easter. From Peter's perspective the Last Supper all the way through Easter week. I love Peter, and to hear the story through his eyes gets me too! Jack has really liked this one this year.
We did have an egg hunt at Miss Monica's house with Mathew, Hannah, Carter, Grace, and Nora, and it was really fun. Thank you Monica and Jenny for taking this over, all I had to do was show up!
Luke got a basketful! Note that the rules were that only the girls got the pink ones, and Luke is my little rule follower, what happened?
Monica got a great picture of Jack over at her blog, he is forever with his sunglasses on!
Selah took the slow and steady route and didn't get quite as many but had so much fun with her friends! Plus, Luke picked up some pink ones for her right?
We also did Resurrection Biscuits today with the marshmallow baked inside of biscuits or crescent rolls rolled in cinnamon and sugar. When I asked them what they thought would happen, Jack said of course the marshmallows would disappear, isn't it obvious? Except that he pronounced obvious wrong. They did like the empty tomb correlation. Luke told me he wanted Jesus to wear blue like Thomas. Jack told him that yes Jesus did have like a blue scarf on over his white clothes. Really, this was their conversation.
My sister was going to actually make a tomb out of clay and put Jesus in it tonight, seal it, and tomorrow morning have him out on top victorious over death so her kids can wake up Easter morning and see him there! Pretty cool, if she does maybe she can send me pictures or let me know how it went for us to try next year!
Happy Easter everyone!
