Christmas Favorites
We have been hanging out at home with barely any activities to go to these next two weeks and I love it! It is so nice to be home, get things done, and just do school and read Christmas stories to the kids. I know it will start getting busy soon so I am enjoying every minute of peace!
These are some of our favorite Christmas things to do and books we have started this week:
I took this one from our church in Omaha that I loved, the kids take off a link every day and when there are none left it is Christmas! It looks cute on the tree too with all of the links.
The kids act out the story of Jesus being born with our nativity set, my Mom and Dad got this for us when we got married and every year we get a new figure to add to it. It isn't breakable so I especially love it for the kids.
Sure everyone is crowded around baby Jesus and not perfectly placed, but I will have plenty of years to place them just so when my kids are out of the house and I am missing them! Did you notice Jack used tissue paper for water for the little boy fishing? Very clever!
This is our Jesus stocking, when the kids are kind, sweet, and obey well we write it on a note and put it in Jesus's stocking as a gift to him. Jack has been a good boy this week!
Okay I love, love, love books so here are a few of our favorites! Selah loves this book, it's fun to wag the tail! She wanted to pose with it.
Guess who's favorite this is? I think I have read it 100 times already and it is December 4th!
I think Leah got us this when Jack was born, the kids can each chose an ornament for me to read and then put it on the tree. Each ornament represents a way that Jesus is described in the bible.
This is what the ornaments look like, a few are already on the tree!
I LOVE this book called Jotham's Journey. Our pastor's wife in Omaha gave us the name of this book and I'm so glad I heard of it. You read a part of the story every night of advent, this little boy goes through all kinds of adventures and finally ends up at the nativity. Brad reads it to us with all of the lights off and all of our candles lit in the room along with the advent wreath. It is so pretty and cozy! Then when he is done the kids all blow out (or spit on) all of the candles and get a piece of candy from an advent tree.

Maybe, you cry because you are pregnant! :)
ReplyDeleteCan the McCutcheons borrow some Christmas books? We also have the Family Life ornaments. Although, we lost the crown one. :( Bummer. Maybe, we should make it?
